What's the difference between coffee liquor and Kahlua? I'm not sure if I'm spelling kahlua right...but anyway I'm wondering what the difference between the two is. What is coffee liquor anyway.. and what does it have in it?

Harrison H replied: "Kahlua is the largest BRAND NAME of coffee liquers. There are plenty of others such as Kamora, Copa de Oro, Starbucks, etc. All can be used pretty much interchangably. You can even make your own coffee liquer with instant coffee, vodka, sugar and vanilla. I would add a little chocolate syrup too."

I can tell you the difference between kahlua and tia maria, in kahlua the coffee beans come from mexico, where as in tia maria the coffee beans come from jamaica. That's about the only difference. For other coffee liquors i haven't looked into it."

Angie R replied: "All Kahlua is a coffee liqueur, but not all coffee liqueurs are Kahlua - Kahlua is simply a brand name. Most coffee liqueurs are vodka based, infused with coffee beans and then sweetened. Extremely cheap liqueurs may have nothing more than coffee flavor, rather than a true infusion. And BournemouthFellow is incorrect. The origin of the coffee beans makes no difference. Tia Maria is a rum-based coffee liqueur, while Kahlua is a vodka-based liqueur. The flavors are slightly different because of the difference in base liqueurs."

How to Make Coffee Liquor Drinks? I recently visited Puerto Vallarta and I tried a drink with coffee which either have rum or tequila in it. It was really good, but I do not know how it is called or how to make it. Does anyone have any good recipes for coffee drinks that either has rum or tequila? I even brought a coffee tequila bottle from Puerto Vallarta, but I lack the knowledge of preparing drinks. Can someone share their own recipes?

wren replied: "put in 30ml of your chosen alcohol, double espresso shot (also 30ml) nearly fill with boiling water, then float some whipped real cream on top. if your using plunger coffee not espresso dont add the water just use the coffe alcohol and cream. add chocolate too if your a sweet tooth. :) as well as tasting great it looks really classy too :) good luck"

Why does Tiramisu have coffee & liquor? Can I replace them to make Tiramisu more age/religion friendly? How? That's pretty much it. I keep hearing about it, but for a couple reasons I wouldn't be allowed to try it. Help would be appreciated!

Robert S replied: "I suppose you could, but what would be the point? Tiramisu means 'wake-me-up' so it has caffeine & alcohol."

Sugar Pie replied: "It has those ingredients b/c that's how the Italians decided to make it. But yes, you can change it. Dip lady fingers in fruit syrup, then layer w/ mascapone and fresh fruit, instead of coffee and liqueurs and cocoa. Dont' forget a whipped cream layer!"

Blue replied: "You can leave out the liqueur and just add espresso I've seen it made that way. But if you have a problem with the coffee too then it's not for you."

Even replied: "You can try to find tiramisu powder. It taste same as the real one with mascarpone and liquor. You just need to and some water to the powder and add in some cream. then your can use in decorating cakes."

How long does Starbucks Coffee Liquor last? It has a 20% alcohol content, and I've left it out of the fridge. I've had it for about a year or 2. Is it still ok to drink?

wineduchess replied: "Easy Tiramisu Original recipe yield: 1 - 8x8 inch dish PREP TIME 15 Min READY IN 1 Hr 15 Min INGREDIENTS 3 egg yolks 1/4 cup white sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 1/8 cups mascarpone cheese 24 ladyfingers 1 1/2 cups brewed coffee 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder DIRECTIONS In a medium bowl, beat yolks with sugar and vanilla until smooth and light yellow. Fold mascarpone into yolk mixture. Set aside. Dip ladyfingers briefly in coffee and arrange 12 of them in the bottom of an 8x8 inch dish. Spread half the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with remaining cookies and mascarpone. Cover and chill 1 hour. Sprinkle with cocoa just before serving."

Can you buy coffee liquor if you're under 18? I wanted to make tiramisu cheesecake, but i need coffee liquor for it. Can I still buy it even though I'm 16?

In latin countries, coffee liquor is very common, but how do they drink it? (what cocktails?)

Andres C replied: "hi im colombian, and i dont know of many coffee liquors sorry i think u may be talking about a country in specific, but in general we dont drink coffe liquois (i have been to many LA countries). the only one i know of is baylies (or however u write that), but its not a latinamerican thing. i may be wrong i dont know.,.."

Estrato Seis replied: "My wife is Colombian.. but she Drinks only Baileys.. And then they mix it with Whiskey. Learned this when I brought a bottle of expensive single malt whiskey.. She didnt know a single malt from Bathtub gin... Her and her mom mixed the baileys with the single malt and drank it all.. Never again.."

mora replied: "Well, there are many ways of drinking it really. You can drink it with just some ice. You can drink it warm with some crème fraîche. Some people like drinking it with some milk too. Also some cocktails that use it are: - Ami corse (with Get 27 and Chartreuse) - Black jack (with whisky and Triple sec) - Black russian (with vodka) - Baby Guinness (with whisky cream) - Dizzy dame (with brandy or cognac, milk and kirsch) - White russian (with vodka and milk) - Siciliano (with brandy or cognac, limoncello and coffee) I can't really tell you how each cocktail is made because i don't know a lot about them, but i hope that info is what are looking for :)"
